Race Across America

My brother in-law Jared stared his race across America today!! They started in Ocean Side, CA

and will end in Annapolis Maryland. Jared is on a team call Team Donate Life he is riding for his son Connor to bring awareness and raise money for organ donation. Jared and his team with 7 other riders will climb over 110,000 feet while crossing 14 states in their 3,000 plus mile campaign to the finish line. It was so exciting to see the start of the race I am so proud of my brother in-law and wish him the very best. Go Jared!!!!

Connor's Fun Run or Ride

Connor's Fun Run or Ride was a wonderful event I loved being able to be apart of this special event it was in honor of my nephew Connor as well as benefited Team Donate Life which is a bicycle team that rides across the united states to raise awareness and funds for organ donation. This event was a great success I love that my whole family works with Donate Life and that we were all able to work this event as a team.

Donate Life California Day

This was a family affair all of the Ellison were invited to the State Capital to meet our state legislators to lobby for two new bills that were in support of Organ Donation SB 552 requiring high schools to include organ and tissue donation in health education classes and AB 1132(which I had the honor to present) allowing for donor designation during vehicle registration renewal cycle. It was so exciting to be involved in something that could have a great impact with Donate Life.

Reach For The Stars Fresno

This was a amazing two day event starting with a wonderful entertainment filled dinner where we were treated like stars. Monday started with a trip to the Fox TV station for the morning show where we were able to share are platforms with Fresno and the Reach For the Stars program. I loved meeting the local sponsors who are the reason this program is able to do all that it does for the students of Tahipiti Middle School, The student were so full of hope for there future and it was a honor to be apart of it. Thank you Ron.

Heart Ball

The American Heart Association presents the 2009 Los Angeles Heart Ball. Working with Go Red has been fantastic I am so honored they invited Ryan and I to attend the Heart Ball, we had a wonderful time the dinner was amazing and Toni Braxton performance was beautiful. Ryan and I loved sharing the evening with Hilary Miss California and Sean.

April is Donate Life Month

April is Donate Life Month so to get things started we went to Woodland CA to spread the message about organ donation and the importance of education. We had wonderful support from Woodland College, Fire Chief Tod Reddish and Mayor Skip Davies.

The South Lake Tahoe Fire and Police Department joined efforts with Donate Life by rolling out the new "got the dot" bumper stickers to show there support for Organ Donation. Elise and I loved meeting Mayor Jerry Birdwell.

My whole family was able to take part in the roll out of Folsom's new bumper stickers being placed on all of the police and fire vehicles,that encourages our town to get registered to be Organ Donors. My nephew Connor had the honor of placing the first sticker on a squad car and then taking a ride in the fire truck sirens and all. To see the smile on his face reminds me of how important our work is.

City of lights parade in Palm Springs

What a weekend. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time with my California International family. The parade was wonderful! So many people, lights, and the spirit of Christmas was every where. On my way back home to Northern California I reflected on what a generous team Eddie and Dennis are. "Lucky Me".

Smud Health Fair

I love being able to share Connor's story. The health fair was a great success we were able to share the great need for Organ Donor's. I was also able to help sign up many new people for the registry. I love days like today.

Secretary of States Office

What a great way to start off my new title a public appearance with my daughter Elise. We had the opportunity to go to the Secretary of States office and encourage people to register to become Organ Donors and get the Pink Dot on their license. My heart was touched when a little girl asked to try on my crown. Little Bobby's baby sister was in the hospital recovering from a heart transplant, I was happy to be able to put a smile on her face when the family was going through such a difficult time.
